  • As we sailed into Scoresby Sound we were surrounded by large icebergs. Heading out in zodiacs to explore more of the sound allowed us to get closer to the arch in this iceberg. With the iceberg being so large we had to stay back from the berg itself for safety as you never know when it may calf and/or flip over. As we photographed through the arch the view would change through the arch letting us constantly create new images of the iceberg and the surroundings.

  • This was also taken a few summers ago in Glacier National Park and not far from where I saw the baby mountain goat. Looking to the east on the Hidden Lake trail in mid-July there were still patches of snow around Logan Pass and the trail took us over some of those patches as well. Now that fall is here the park will start to close down at the higher elevations as the snow will soon start to fly in northern Montana.

  • This was taken at Glacier National Park in Montana. Just for a change I transformed it to a black and white image which I think tells a little different story in comparison with the original image in color. With the rocks leading us out to the lake and onwards to the mountains it is not a mixture of colors but something which blends the scene together as one just after sunset on this evening.

  • As I walked through Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavik one of the first things I noticed was the light pouring into the space through the windows in front of the sanctuary. Using this as a light source I tilted my lens towards the ceiling and let the light highlight the detail in the structure. With the vast amount of light coming in on this sunny day the windows are starting to blow out in detail however it shows the strength of the light coming into the building to let us enjoy the detail.

  • On the day I visited Tracy Arm and South Sawyer Glacier, there was plenty of ice in the area in front of the glacier as our boat slowly made its way around the area giving us view of the glacier. At this point instead of being on top of the boat where most people were viewing, I headed to the back which allowed me to get close to the water. From this perspective I am able to capture the ice in the picture and help tell the story of that day.

  • On Veterans Day a few years ago there was a light snowfall overnight. As the snow was starting to melt, I walked over to Lincoln Park in Denver which is located between the State Capitol and Civic Center Park. In this park is the Colorado Veterans Memorial and today there were US and Colorado flags around the monument. With a low angle I worked to capture the signage as well as some of the flags which were on display.

  • It was five years ago today I first photographed this tree in Washington Park here in Denver. Just like five years ago it snowed today in Denver and this snow is giving us a little more than in 2008. This is indeed a new photograph of the tree as I headed to the park to photograph the tree as well as others areas in the park. The question is will this be the last snowfall of the season, at the current rate I would say most likely not.

  • I started 2017 in Juneau, Alaska. That day I headed out to photograph sunrise and sunset which both brought plenty of color. For sunset I was at Auke Bay when I started to notice the color starting to appear in the sky. I found a good spot near Statter Harbor and watched the sunset for the evening. Plenty of people stopped by this location to capture the sunset using smart phones to large cameras. Towards the bottom of the image you can see a little bit of a harbor seal which was enjoying swimming in front of us this evening as well.
