As the day moves to afternoon at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve the wind picks up. With the wind starting to blow those lines which were led to the distance start to be obscured with the blowing sand from the gusty wind. These winds are quite common at the sand dunes based on the location of the park in the Alamosa valley and is also how they initially formed.
