In September 2008 while visiting Estes Park, I had planned to photograph around Bear Lake one morning. As the first hints of light appeared I was halfway up Bear Lake Road and realized I would be stuck in the clouds. Quickly thinking of some other options, I decided to risk a risk and change locations. Finding a pullout, I headed back down the road and went up Trail Ridge Road where at tree line I emerged from the clouds. Knowing Rainbow Curve was not too far away I made it to the turnoff with about 10 minutes to spare prior to sunrise.
