  • During a snowfall in Denver, I was walking near the Denver Art Museum and noticed the snow on the residences situated next to the museum. The lines and angles are intriguing on their own, but the snow added a different dimension in the late afternoon. I searched for an interesting area of the building and captured this of the facade on that snowy day a few weeks ago.

  • A spring storm dropped some snow along the Front Range of Colorado. With the warm temperatures the few days before this the accumulated snow did not amount to much but even so I grabbed my camera and headed out into the city. Walking near the Denver Art Museum I noticed the reflection of a building with the snow still on the granite bench for this image.

  • I was out photographing during a snowfall in the Denver area. It was a quiet evening however one of the exhibits at the Denver Art Museum was attracting patrons even during this weather. I set-up my tripod at the southern end of the museum complex to photographing the people walking by as well as the city in the background on this winter night in Denver.

  • In late April 2013, more snow fell in Denver. One of those nights I headed out after sunset to photograph and found myself along Speer Blvd. and Cherry Creek. After photographing in this area I headed over to Alamo Placita Park and found a quiet park on a snowy evening. With the dusting of snow the downtown Denver area received from this latest storm I was careful to plan ahead on the way to a scene as with this path in the park. Looking back towards Speer the path and lights grabbed my attention on another snowy evening in April.

  • I have walked past the Governor's Mansion in Denver many times and have always noticed the lines of the fence which surrounds the location. One fall the colors were vivid still from the last fall color in the city. Using a shallow depth of field I focused on the brick post and let the lines lead to the color in the background.

  • In the spring of 2014, Doors Open Denver took place once again took place. This annual event gives you access to locations you would not normal be able to view throughout Denver. One of the last locations I visited during this event was Saint John's Cathedral just outside of downtown Denver. The access to the location where this image was taken was through a small stairwell which was pretty much one way traffic, but worth the climb for the different perspective. The current cathedral was built from 1909-1911.

  • Grant Humphreys Mansion is located near Governors Park and as I found out after the fact the mansion is haunted. When taking the image I was thinking color all the way with the nice blue of the sky, green of the grass as well as some leaves in the tree; however with the nice contrast a change to black and white worked even better for this result.

  • In Colorado there is always excitement for the first snow of the season in the city, even if it has been snowing in the mountains for quite a while. For the 2008-2009 snow season, the first snow was not until mid-November which is quite late. A few weeks earlier I captured the fall colors around the Governor's Mansion and thought it would be a good comparison to photograph around there during this late snowfall once again working the lines into the image.

  • I headed to a park I have passed many times while traveling on Speer Blvd but never realized what it consisted of as I sped on past the park. Alamo Placita Park is one of those parks which people have seen, but never have stopped more so as it is a small neighborhood park. Even the City and County of Denver website has limited information about the park itself. Walking around the park the image I wanted to walk away with was easily the tie in to Speer and the limited knowledge of the park. As it was near sunset I first thought about the lights of cars passing by the park, but seeing this set of stairs leading into the park this was a good place to start with the traffic taking the background. At first I was going to leave this as a color image, but once the sun set the color of the stone was changed with the various color temperatures of the nearby lights so I converted it to a black and white image which I feel helps tell the story of the lesser known park as well.

  • I have probably walked past the Denver Art Museum over 100 times and on a dreary November day, I once again walked by this building. As I was photographing in the area with overcast skies I noticed a view of the museum I had not captured in the past. The intersecting lines of the building caught my eye here with a small portion of the sky on this morning.

  • As I was walking through Denver in the late afternoon of November day, I noticed how the afternoon light was casting itself amongst some of the buildings. Near the Denver Library I have always noticed the lines in this building not far away and positioned myself to catch the vertical lines this afternoon with the late afternoon light. Some of the clouds in the sky are reflecting in the glass and if you look carefully on the right you can also capture some of the insides of the building through the clear glass.

  • It has been a while since I have walked past the location of the new Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art. Walking past I was surprised at how much it has changed on Bannock in the past few months. The exterior of the museum caught my eye and I explored it with my camera for quite some time, but it was the straight on view which I liked today. I am sure when the light hits the exterior throughout the year it will produce different results.

  • As I was walking past the Art Hotel in the Golden Triangle area of Denver, I noticed the reflection of the hotel in the early morning light. History Colorado was providing the reflection of the building and I worked to find a perspective of whether or not to include the building in the image. For me including the building added perspective of size versus the close-up of the reflection in this instance.
